The new established village Theotokos is close to the national road and nothing of it reminds the old one, which was built in the location of Megali Rachi at an altitude of 1000m. The old village was totally destroyed in 1984 by a large fire, but it was starting to decay since the 17th century, when most of its inhabitants, mainly the skilled craftsmen, were forced to immigrate all over the Balkan Peninsula and the Southern Russia. During the 16th century the village used to be one of the most important trade centers and this prosperity is still evident even in the ruins of the abandoned village.
