Named after the homonymous monastery that literary hangs over the cliff, the Nikanoras village was built among impressive oak forests at 720m altitude. Suffered from the brutal battles of the WWII and the Greek Civil War that followed, few inhabitabts are living now permamently in the village. Despite the radical changes, the dominat occupation of the locals is still based on the technical expertise exploiting the natural resources of the area (stone masonry, forestry and limited livestock).
