Drosopigi is a well-preserved village built in an altitude up to 1000m. Nowadays, its locals are one of the most active communities in the Mastorochoria area. Despite the fact that they are descendants of the famous masonry craftsmen, they correspond to the challenges of the contemporary economic crisis by experimenting with innovative agricultural techniques and promoting their rich cultural heritage. Built before the 15th century, the village thrived during the Ottoman occupation and experienced significant development. Traces of this glorious past are scattered all over the area. Churches, chapels, and bridges consist only a few of the remained monuments. The famous -and the only preserved- Zerma (Kantsiko) stone arched bridge, beyond being an important monument of masonry craftsmanship, symbolises the unifying role of Sarantaporos river.
